This is also the 1,000th ultra-high voltage (500 kV) and above voltage level live-line operation completed by the team since its establishment in 2000.

The continuous high temperature in recent days has steamed the land of Jiangsu, and also driven the power load of the Jiangsu power grid to increase steadily. The Jiangsu power grid is in a long-term high-load operation state, and some power grid equipment has approached the operating limit. In order to ensure the safe and reliable supply of electricity, the 16 operators of the high-voltage live-line operation team of the provincial maintenance company have worked around the clock and completed 36 ultra-high voltage and above live-line operations since June.

On August 22, Yan Guangqing, the leader of the power transmission maintenance team of the Xuzhou branch of the Provincial Maintenance Company, discovered an emergency defect during an inspection of the 500 kV Guodai 5611 line - the drainage plate of the small side conductor of the C phase of the No. 1 tower was heated. The 500 kV Guodai 5611 transmission line is an important channel for Xuzhou's "North-South Power Transmission" and is responsible for the power supply of the eastern area of ​​Xuzhou and Suqian. This line section crosses the Beijing-Shanghai Railway. In order to eliminate equipment defects in a timely manner without affecting the safe operation of the Beijing-Shanghai Railway, the company decided to eliminate the defect by live working after many studies and discussions.

On the morning of August 23, Zhang Changsong, the only live working team of ultra-high voltage and above in Jiangsu Province, led 6 members to the defect site. As the team leader, this operation was both ordinary and significant to Zhang Changsong.

“This is the 1,000th live-line operation of ultra-high voltage and above in our class. Everyone must pay attention to safety.” At 9:40, Zhang Changsong emphasized to everyone at the station meeting. Wearing shielding clothing and carrying live-line working tools, team member Yu Yongzhuang boarded the line to start working. After 1 hour of hard work, the defect was successfully eliminated.

At 10:06, team member Du Xiwang operated the insulated boom truck and slowly raised the truck bed carrying him and his colleague Yu Yongzhuang to a height of 30 meters.

At 10:09, the truck bed approached the running 500 kV Guodai 5611 line in parallel. Du Xiwang quickly connected the potential transfer rod, one end of which was connected to the lead-in pile in the truck bed, to the C phase conductor of the 500 kV Guodai 5611 line, so that the insulated boom truck and the live wire formed an equal potential, thereby preventing live-line workers from getting electric shock.

Afterwards, Yu Yongzhuang, with the cooperation of Du Xiwang, swiftly climbed from the truck bed to the 500 kV Guodai 5611 line and began to carry out the fault elimination operation, while Du Xiwang stayed in the truck bed as a high-altitude monitor.

"Slow down, pay attention to the shaking of the wire, maintain balance, and coordinate your hands and feet well." Zhang Changsong shouted on the ground. He frankly said that he was most worried that the team members would do too much, be too confident, and not pay attention to details, so he kept a close eye on the ground every time he worked live.

After a while, Yu Yongzhuang "walked" to the defect and sat on four wires as thick as his arms. He bent down, unfastened a screw on the wire drainage plate, took out the sandpaper from the tool bag hanging around his neck, and carefully polished the dirt on the joint surface of the drainage plate.

15 minutes later, the polishing work was finished. Yu Yongzhuang carefully checked it and then evenly applied conductive grease on it.

After nearly an hour of intense work, Yu Yongzhuang completed the fault elimination operation. "The current of each sub-conductor is 200 amperes, and the current of the four sub-conductors is balanced." Yu Yongzhuang took out a clamp-type ammeter, measured the four-split sub-conductor of phase C of tower 1, and told Zhang Changsong loudly.

At 11 o'clock, Yu Yongzhuang successfully climbed from the conductor into the bucket of the insulated boom truck. With a harsh arc sound, Du Xiwang removed the potential transfer rod connected between the insulated boom truck and the live wire, and slowly lowered the insulated boom truck bucket.

Although Yu Yongzhuang had drunk two bottles of water during the high-altitude work, he still grabbed a mineral water bottle to replenish himself as soon as he got to the ground. Zhang Changsong helped him take off the shielding suit, flame-retardant underwear and conductive shoes weighing a total of 3.5 kilograms. He twisted the flame-retardant underwear with his hands, and sweat fell all over the floor.

"Report to the power dispatching and control center, the line defects have been eliminated, and the personnel and equipment have been evacuated." At 11:06, after packing up the tools with the team members, Zhang Changsong took out his mobile phone and reported to the East China Power Grid Dispatching and Control Center.

It is reported that the high-voltage live-line operation team led by Zhang Changsong has completed 1,000 ultra-high voltage and above live-line operations, reducing the line power outage by more than 40,000 minutes, and directly creating a lot of economic benefits for the company. Zhang Changsong has also become the person who has participated in the most 500 kV and above live-line operations in Jiangsu Province.
